Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2012 - May

Hi everyone!  Tonight I finished up my tag for May from Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012 featured on his blog.

I had to make quite a few adjustments on this one since I had no sewing theme stamps or embellishments.  I did follow the techniques pretty closely though. But I still love how it turned out!  My favorite part is the flowers dipped in melted Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.  I have had a melting pot for a couple years now, purchased with the intention of using it for this exact technique, but have never got around to it.  Of course, I burned my fingers, cause that's just what I do LOL  Just glad I didn't dump it in my lap or something.  Ouch seriously hot :-(  I'll be alright though.
The supplies I used are:
Stamps - Tim Holtz (umbrella man), Stampin' Up! (ephemera background)
Flowers - I Am Roses
Film Strip ribbon - Tim Holtz
Distress Ink - Vintage Photo, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac
Antique Linen Distress Stain
Jet Black Archival Ink
Seam Binding
Sewing Pattern tissue
#8 Manila Tag
Tim Holtz Philosophy Tag
Tim Holtz Charm Clip
Jump Ring
Twine

Hope you like it!

TIlda Rainbow Card

Hi everyone!  Hope you are enjoying the weekend so far!  We had some beautiful weather here in Alberta today and I'm really hoping it continues!  After all of the rain we had last week, everything is looking so green!

Here is a card I created to enter in a couple of challenges:

The Magnolia images I used are Water can Tilda and Rainbow Background.  This was my first time masking to make two images into one and I am very happy with how it turned out!  I coloured the image with copic markers.
The background shape was cut from watercolor paper with the Cricut using the Lacy Labels cartridge.  I sprayed it with three different colors of Glimmer Mist.
To make the flowers, I followed a very helpful ribbon rose tutorial on Youtube.  If you would like to watch it click HERE.
Other products used:
Patterned Paper - DCWV
Bling - Recollections
Ribbon - CTMH (sheer), Michaels (satin)
Twine - Twinery

The challenges I am entering my card in are:
Magnolia-licious - using this photo as inspiration:
Ribbon Carousel Blog - Fancy Flowers (creating your own flowers from ribbon, fabric, etc.)

Hope you like it!

Housework Fairy Card

Hi everyone!  Here is a quick card I created for the challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  The challenge was called "Clean and Simple".

I chose a stamp by Stamping Bella and coloured it with my Copic markers. I LOVE this stamp because it suits me perfectly - I hate housework! :-)  The sentiment says, " Housework can't kill you, but why take the chance?"  LOL  LOVE it!

The backgound cardstock was cut from the Lacy Labels Cricut cartridge (white at 3", blue at 3.25")

The patterned paper and cardstock used are from my scraps.

Copics used:
W 8,6,3,1
B 99,97,95,93,26,23,21
YG 63,61
E 15,02,01,00

Hope you like it!  Thanks for stopping by!

#162 Carousel - 60th Birthday Layout

Hi everyone!  Hope you are having a great weekend!

The challenge for the month of May on the Cricut Circle Blog was to create a layout about a milestone in somebody's life.  We needed to use 2 Cricut image cuts and 2 Cricut font cuts.

The cartridges / cuts I used are:
Carousel - "60" cut at 2"
Birthday Cakes - "Happy Birthday" phrase cut at 2.25", "DAD" cut at 1.15" and welded to the phrase.
Boys will be Boys - Tractor and layers cut at 2.5"
Scalloped border - Ribbons and Rosettes cut at 1"
Background shape (behind title) - Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cut at 3.5" and 3.75"

By the way, this layout is of my father's 60th birthday when I made him a birthday cake using my Cricut Cake machine - such a fun tool!  The cake had a barn and tractor on top and different animals around the edge.

The patterned paper I chose for this layout is from the Basic Grey Obscure collection - which I've had for a loooooong time!

Hope you like it!

#161 Celebrations - Happy Birthday Card

Hi everyone!  I am back with my last entry into the challenges for National Scrapbooking Day on the Cricut Circle Blog!  The final challenge was to create a project using an older cartridge along with a newer cartridge.  I chose to create a birthday card featuring Celebrations, an older cartridge, and This & That, a newer Creative Memories cartridge.

From Celebrations, I cut "Happy" and "Birthday" at 2.34", and the scalloped square at 5.6"

From This & That, I cut the piece of cake at 3".

I embossed the scalloped square with the cupcake Cuttlebug folder from the Once Upon a Princess companion set.  I then ran a Versamark ink pad over the paper and embossed it with Hibiscus Rose Orange embossing powder by Lindy's Stamp Gang.  Very shimmery!

Here is a closer look:
The glitter paper I used for "Happy Birthday" is POW by American Crafts.  It has a really smooth surface and cuts like butter in the Cricut!  LOVE it!

Hope you like it!

#160 April Showers - Welcome Spring

Hi everyone!  Here is a layout I just finished up for the Scraps Only challenge on the Cricut Circle Blog, which was one of the challenges for National Scrapbooking Day.  We were asked to create layout using only our scraps and to use the Cuttlebug somewhere on our project.

The cartridges / cuts I used are:
April Showers - Banner (cut at 1.5"), Rubber boots (cut at 2.5"), "Welcome Spring" (cut at 3")
Create a Critter - Bunny (cut at 2.75")
Cheerful Seasons - Butterfly (cut at 1.75")

I embossed the top of the page with the butterfly 12" border Cuttlebug folder, and the rubber boots with the Houndstooth Cuttlebug folder.

This challenge was actually pretty easy for me because I have a huge amount of scrap paper!

Hope you like it!

#159 Dreams Come True - Jasmine Card

Hi everyone!  I'm still going on these Cricut Circle Blog National Scrapbook Day challenges!  What a lot of fun I am having creating all of these projects!  I created this card for the Color challenge, which was to use the following colours in our projects:

And this is my card:

I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to cut out my favorite princess from the Dreams Come True cartridge - Jasmine from the Disney movie Aladdin.
Jasmine and her layers were cut at 4.5".
"Jasmine" and the flower layers of that image were cut at 1.5".

I also used a couple of Cuttlebug folders on my card:  Moroccan Screen for the green background, and a stripe from the Animal Prints set for the orange background.

Hope you like it!

#158 Mother's Day Phrases - Mother's Day Card

Hi everyone!  Here is a Mother's Day card that I made for one of the National Scrapbooking Day Challenges on the Cricut CircleBlog.  This was a Cricut Craftroom challenge, where we were supposed to use only Craftroom Exclusive digital images.
I used Mother's Day Phrases for "Happy Mothers Day" and the flower bunches.  This was one image and was cut at 3.5".  I was kind of worried about how well this would cut, but with my Mini, it cut very cleanly.

The 3D flowers were cut from Mother's Day 3D Corsage at 1.25"  They were really fun to put together!  I cut them from white cardstock and spritzed them with Starburst Spray (Cocklebells Coral).

The top note image was from Teresa Collins Basics and was cut at 4.25"

After I had the card put together, I thought the pink lettering kind of faded into the background a bit so I went around the edges of the letters with Melon Mambo marker (Stampin' Up) However, it didn't turn out as evenly as I had hoped, so I am wishing now that I hadn't done that!

The finished card size is 5X7.

Hope you like it!

#157 Ribbons and Rosettes - Wise Guy Layout

Hi everyone!   I created a layout for a National Scrapbooking Day challenge on the Cricut Circle Blog.  The challenge was a "recipe" challenge where we had to create a project using:

Machine, pen or hand-stitching
The colour yellow

Here is my entry:
The cartridges / cuts I used are:
Boys will be Boys - "Wise Guy" (cut at 2.5")
Hoot N Holler - Owl on branch (cut at 4"), Branch (cut at 2.5")
Ribbons and Rosettes - Notebook border (cut at 1")
Paper Trimmings - Sun (cut at 3.75")

The patterned paper is by Crate Paper.
I added some pen stitching zig zags along the orange cardstock.

Hope you like it!

Hi everyone!  Here is a card that I made for my nephew for his 5th birthday! I created this card with the Cricut Circle Magazine challenge for the month of May in mind.  The challenge was to create a banner of some sort, either on it's own or part of a project.

Birthday Bash - Banner (cut at 1")

Hope you like it!

Sister Birthday Card

Hi everyone!  Here is a card that I created for my sister Melanie, whose birthday is this Friday!    I made the card following the Throwback Thursday challenge at My Creative Time.  The challenge this time was to create a project using a frame from any Cricut cartridge.
The frame I chose is from Lovely Floral and it was cut at 5.5".
The birds on the branch were cut at 2.5"
The word "sister" and the shadow were cut from the Sophisticated cartridge at 1".

The card background was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder from the Paper Lace II companion set.
I added some lace to the bottom of the frame, then spritzed some large white roses with Tiffany's Blue Starburst Spray.  The small flowers were also white, and I coloured the edges of the petals with a yellow copic marker.  I also added some tiny pearls for the birds' eyes
