Baby Girl Mixed Media Canvas

Hi everyone!  I am so excited to show you my project for today!  Lately I discovered mixed media canvas tutorials on YouTube and was particularly drawn to Christy Tomlinson's work.  I have been eager to try one and of course I had to incorporate my Cricut in there somewhere!  So using her numerous videos as inspiration, I created this canvas for the monthly challenge on the Cricut Circle Blog, which was to create a gift for a baby.

The cartridges/cuts I used are:

Kate's ABC's - Girl with carriage (cut at 5"), "Precious" (cut at 2")
Elegant Edges - Butterflies (cut at 1.5" and 1")

Materials used:
8X10 canvas (purchased mine at Michael's)
Ranger Glue n' Seal
Patterned Paper - DCWV Pretty Princess Stack
Paint - Claudine Helmuth Studio
Rub-ons
Stickles
Stamps
Ink Sprays
Markers - Faber Castell PITT Big Brush (pink madder), Copic Multiliner ( Sepia)

This was such a fun project!  I can't wait to start another one!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2012 - June

Hi everyone!  I just got finished my June tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012 and I couldn't wait to show it to you!  Some of you know, that I was one of the lucky winner's last month and I gotta say, I was pretty over the moon excited.  I received my prize last week,a really nice TH stamp set that I can't wait to use!
Anyway, to check out Tim's tag for this month, go to his blog, by clicking HERE.
Here is my version:

I printed a photo of my cutie patootie husband in black and white ( we have a total of 3 pictures from his entire childhood - sad, huh?) and coloured the jacket with Distress Inks.  I loved this technique and can't wait to try it again!
Hope you like my version of the tag!

#164 Bump in the Night - Birthday Boy

Hi everyone!  Hope everyone is having a great week so far!  Here is a card I created for the Throwback Thursday challenge over at My Creative Time.  For this challenge, Emma asked us to create a project using blue, green, brown and white.  We are also supposed to use an older Cricut cartridge.  The cartridge I chose was Bump in the Night, one of the Lite cartridges.
Here is what I came up with:

The monster was cut at 2.75" from the Bump in the Night cartridge.
The scalloped border was cut at 1" from the Martha Stewart Birthday Cakes cartridge.

The photo corners were punched with an EK Success punch.
I added detail to the edge of the card and to the photo corners with Tempting Turquoise Stampin Up marker.
I inked the edges of the monster with Pear ink by CTMH.
I used my 3/4" and 1" circle punches by Creative Memories for the background.
The sentiment "Birthday Boy" is two stamps from the My Creative Time set "Celebrate Good Times".

Hope you like it!

Cricut Dress Up

Hi everyone! I am back with a silly sort of project for you today :-) The Cricut Circle Magazine challenge this month was to create a costume for our little vinyl Cricut guys using Cricut cuts.
At first I was totally discouraged by the contest and couldn't think of a single thing to do. Then I took a look at all of the other amazing entries and decided I should at least give it a try.
I decided to go with a pirate theme and used the Buccaneer cartridge with my Imagine machine.
I cut the purple shirt from the boy image on the cartridge and couldn't just leave his head there (he looks angry) so I made a "mask" for the green Cricut guy.
The map was cut at 10.5", the boy was cut at 5" , the hat at 2.5" and the 3D treasure chest was cut at 6".
I kinda feel like I cheated on this challenge, since I used the Imagine and everything was already in layers, and I was finished so quickly, but it is a Cricut machine, right?
Hope you like it!

#163 Martha Stewart All Occasions Cake Art - Minnie Mouse Birthday

Hi everyone ! Here is a card I created for my neice Bentley, who is turning 2 years old next week. She is having a Minnie Mouse themed birthday party and LOVES Minnie Mouse so I'm sure she will love the card!
I created the card for the weekly challenge on the Cricut Circle Blog, which was to create a project using twine in a creative way.
For the card base, I welded two shadow shapes together from the Ornamental Iron 2 cartridge (cut at 5.5"). The scalloped circle from the background is cut from Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art at 4.5". I embossed the circle shape with a Cuttlebug folder from the Once Upon a Princess companion folder set. I used Crystal Effects to glue down some twine around the edge. The balloons were cut from Martha Stewart All Occasion Cake Art at 3.5". I cut the paper strings from them and added twine in it's place. The "B" on the middle balloon was cut at 0.75" from MS Elegant Cake Art. I covered the middle balloon in Crystal Effects. The Minnie Mouse image was created from the Cut and Emboss Minnie Cuttlebug set. I cut and embossed it on white cardstock, then coloured in the image. I used copic markers for the black area, then switched to Stampin' Up! markers for the pink areas. I attached her to the card with Stampin' Dimensional foam pieces. The "2's" in the corners were cut at 0.83", also from MS Elegant Cake Art.  I then added some faux stitching around the edge of the card with Black Soot Distress marker.
Hope you like it!

Altered Marker Tube

Hi everyone! Here is a project I created for the Throwback Thursday Challenge at My Creative Time.  The challenge was to create an altered item using an older Cricut cartridge.

I have this marker tube, that came with my Tim Holtz Distress marker set.  I put the pens in another container so I started throwing odds and ends into this empty container.

This is what I came up with:

I used the Sentimentals cartridge and cut the hand and layers at 3.5". The background shape was cut at 5", and the swirl was cut at 2.5". "Odds & Ends" was cut at 0.5" using the Plantin' Schoolbook cartridge. Hvae you ever cut a font that small? Before I got my Cricut Mini, this was impossible for me with my other Cricut machines. I continue to me impressed by how well this little machine performs! All of the paper layers were attached with Glue n' Seal. I also put a layer over top of everything to seal it.
Products used: Patterned Paper - Tim Holtz (crowded attic)
Cardstock - Core-Dinations (Tim Holtz), Bazzill
Embossing Folder - Tim Holtz
Paper Flowers - I Am Roses
Sprays - Lindy's Stamp Gang
Ribbon - Stampin' Up!
Lace - Unknown
Liquid Pearls
Marker - Staedtler Lumocolor

Hope you like it!
