#113 Art Philosophy - Wishes

Hi everyone! The monthly challenge at the Cricut Circle blog for September was to create a project with a window element. The new Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge, Art Philosophy, features an assortment of window cards so I chose to use one of them for my card.

The cartridges / cuts I used are:

Art Philosophy - card (cut at 5.5"), frame ( cut at 3.21"), 3D flowers (cut at 2.25")

Elegant Cakes - "wishes" (cut at 1")

I stamped the background of the card with the French Filigree stamp by Stampin' Up! using Versamark ink and then heat embossed with Holographic embossing powder.

The pearl border is by Prima.

#107 Hannah Montana - Happy Birthday Pop Star!

Hi everyone! Last night I finished up a layout for the Cricut Circle Blog weekly challenge. The theme this week was "A-B-C, 1-2-3" - (A) Pop of (B)right (C)olor on your page, as well as 1 of something, 2 of something, and 3 of something.

I love the bright colours on the Bubblegum Stripes Imagine cartridge so I wanted to use that for the colour scheme on my layout.

I used one ribbon, two photos and three colours of Stickles.

The Cricut cartridges/cuts I used are:

Hannah Montana (my fave BTW:-)) - Hannah and shadows cut at 5.25"

- "Pop Star" cut at 5"

Elegant Cakes - "Happy Birthday" cut at 3.25"

All colours and patterns were printed on white cardstock (American Crafts) using the Imagine machine with the Bubblegum Stripes cartridge.

#87 Sentimentals - Welcome Sign

Hi everyone! I am still not making many posts on my blog but I have been doing some crafting in between soccer games, school functions, swimming lessons and piano with the kids! This is a Welcome sign I created for one of the Cricut Circle Magazine challenges this month. For this challenge we were asked to use one of the May Magazine projects for inspiration to create our own project. I chose to use Aphra Bolyer's welcome sign for inspiration for my project. Her sign was shaped like a gate and had flowers and the word "welcome" on the front of it. My plan originally was to create something very similar to her project, I was just going to use the fence instead of the gate, but the ideas started flowing and I came up with this instead!

The base for the fence was cut twice from a cereal box to create two layers, giving it added support. The plaque was cut from heavier chipboard. I found a large piece the the back of one of my child's floor colouring pads. The fence was painted with Picket Fence Tim Holtz Distress crackle paint. The plaque was covered in flocked patterned paper. The swirls are fuzzy!

Here are the cartridges, cuts and measurements I used on my sign:

Sentimentals - plaque shape (cut at 14"), scalloped circle to create large flowers (cut at 2" real dial size)

My World - fence (two welded together cut at 5.5")

Nursery Rhyme - "WELCOME" (cut at 2")

Kate's ABCs - wagon (cut at 4"), watering can (cut at 3.5"), cat (cut at 3")

Elegant Cakes - vine border (cut at 1")

The three shapes along the bottom were attached to the fence using 3D foam squares. I added some I-Rock bling here and there for a little something extra.

I had so much fun creating all of the flowers on my project! Each larger flower was made using 8 - 2" scalloped circles. I inked all of the edges and spritzed with water to make the cardstock easier to manipulate. The circles were stacked then attached together through the center with a brad. One circle at a time was the scrunched up towards the center to create the petals.

Each rolled flower was created from circles that I cut by hand at around 3". I cut the circle into a spiral, rolled it tightly and glued the end to the bottom - this one's addicting! :-)

3-D Church Ornament

Hi everyone! This afternoon I have been working on this 3-D church ornament - well pretty much ALL afternoon. I created it for a contest posted in the November issue of the Cricut Circle Magazine. We were to create a tree ornament featuring at least 4 Cricut cuts and the use of a Cuttlebug or Yudu.

The church was cut from Winter Woodland at 3.5" . I embossed the white layer with a Fomal Square embossing folder, then inked over the raised image. I cut the background from transparency and used alcohol ink to achieve a stained glass effect. The roof pieces were put through my Cuttlebug using the Tiny Mosaic folder. I punched the holes in the roof prior to assembly to thread the ribbon through for hanging.

The flourish along the sides of the church was cut from Winter Frolic.

The snowflake attached to the ribbon is from Christmas.

The "H" which is my last initial, is from Elegant Cakes.

The cute little bird atop the church is from Serenade.

I LOVE how this turned out! I can't wait to hang it on my tree in December! Hope you like it too!

Hat's Off to the Grad - Momo's Challenge!

Hi everyone! I found another blog that I absolutely LOVE! It is Made By Momo http://madebymomo.blogspot.com/ I decided to make a card for her Tuesdays challenge which was to create a graduation card. I don't know anyone graduating this year, but perhaps I can use it next year (or a year after that?) The cartridges I used were Locker Talk for the hat and Elegant Cakes for the sentiment.
